A Birthday in York

I'm no good at celebrating my birthday- Christmas is where it's at! So this year we went away to York and it was great. We had a few things planned but Alex and I mainly explored and just enjoyed each other's company- weekend trips away need to become a habit.

Things I learnt from York::

:: Evil Eye cocktails are strong but so very tasty.
:: Everyone is so polite! It took me a while to get out of the London mind set, I was making friends and apologising to anyone and everyone I accidentally bumped into.
:: Not just York, but nothing beats staying in a hotel.
:: There are pubs and bars everywhere! We headed to Plonkers (for the name alone) and the Golden Fleece - one of the most haunted pub in Britain and I'm convinced, one of the smallest too.
:: The North is cold in January.
:: You will walk the city walls and make a number of references to Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, because you can and it feels so real!
