The Autumn Feels

The Autumn Feels

Ahhh Autumn is here (officially- today is the day, my diary says so); the dark nights are edging their way back, jumpers are permanently attached to us, the leaves have turned golden and there is a chill in the air. There is no doubt about it, this time of year is pretty magical.

The colder months are about wrapping up warm, candles lit, films on the tv, hearty food in the oven and the rain falling outside. What a romanticised image but nonetheless I'm all about it.

September for me always marks a new start, more so than January. I may be well over school age but the start of the year is still September. I also have that nervous excitement, even if I'm not doing anything new. And then you get into your routine and the summer really starts to slope off and you have to find new tasks as you can't sit outside anymore dreaming of BBQs etc. Autumn is my favourite time for being home, relaxing, having family over, for baking and cooking. A and I have worked really hard to get our house winter ready. It felt homely anyway but those few extra touches that make coming home even more comforting and homely.

Our Autumn is a fresh start for us; the new year was hellish, summer was hectic and now I'm taking on everyone's well loved phrase for the next few months, hygge. Autumn is our fresh start to enjoy us, our adventures, our home. It's to take the simple pleasures from life; the cosy nights on the sofa watching television the sea air in winter when you're the only 2 on the beach, dinners out- sitting in corners and just chatting for hours. So we're ready for you Autumn, Winter and I'm aiming to be cosy and content, and you can't really want more than that can you?
