Embracing New Traditions

Embracing New Traditions

:: WHEN DO YOU START YOUR OWN? ::

How does a tradition start? And is it okay to break them to start your own?

Of course the answer is yes, but it brings up so many thoughts and feelings that I didn't know I could have. Christmas is about family and for us we always start Christmas Day the same way; waking up at my parents and opening our stockings from Father Christmas. It's happened like this since was a baby and it's never changed. I grew up and moved to London but we'd always be home by Christmas Eve, staying at my parent's house, keeping the tradition. Last year was no different, we still hadn't found our own place and so the steady Christmas tradition rolled on for another year.

But now? Well now we have our place; 5 minutes down the road from my childhood home and so SO much has happened this year it has caused changes and traditions to change themselves.

So ladies and gentlemen, this year I am hosting Christmas! I'm not sure I'm at all prepared for it. 3 people, my mum's dog and our new puppy all in a tiny house but making our own fun new memories.

It's the natural step to actual adulting isn't it? Hosting Christmas? The plans are being drawn up, the food order and the prosecco should probably start going on ice so we're ready.

i'm excited, anxious, feeling too grown up but at the same time totally ready to take on this role. It's a new Christmas where I can bring some of my own traditions to the ones held in my family for yours. So I say BRING IT ON!
