One Year with Edie
On this very weekend a year ago we were collecting a tiny black pup that we'd decided to call Edie. I remember it so well; she was so tiny. She crawled under Alex's feet in the front seat and promptly fell asleep for the car journey home. To be honest, she's probably spends most of her time asleep ever since we brought her home.
I adore that she has bags of character:
- I'm convinced she knows how to turn the X Box off with her nose! When it gets to bed time and we aren't ready to go upstairs, she comes along and coincidentally seems to nudge the off button meaning whatever we were watching goes off and its time to be let out.
- The way she sits somewhat patiently when you have a mug of tea and spends the entire time surreptitiously eyeing it up out the corner of her eye. She's a tea dog, she belongs to the right house.
- She knows that when the blanket is out and covering me she's allowed up for a cuddle.
-How she recognises my mum's car and is so impatient to go and greet her the moment it's parked.
- Whenever I sit on the floor she thinks it's fine to come and sit on my lap like she's 16 weeks old all over again.
And that's just the beginning of the list! I can honestly say deciding to get Edie was one of the best choices we have ever made. She definitely made our house a home.
The other day it was a beautifully frosty morning and I remembered the pictures we took last year. I knew we had to recreate the pictures just to show how different and how fast the year has gone. Well, picture taking was a little bit more difficult this year. This year there was another dog in the garden and she wanted to see what they were doing. And then the frost became way to exciting for her as she had to run, tail between her legs and not stop for a good 5 minutes. The thing is when she does that I can never stop her as I'm laughing way too much! They say never work with dogs and children and Edie definitely proved that point on a very cold, frosty November morning.
