Visit:: Lanhydrock

You've got to love a staycation. Venturing to places on your own front door; something that I should definitely do more of. There's a world out and I think we're always in a rush to head off on a plane to explore something new when we actually miss what's in the UK. I'm trying to make more of an effort to see what we have on our doorstep and within GB. Next year I intend to travel more around the UK as well as abroad.

A couple months ago we booked an overnight stay to a hotel in Lanhydrock and it was just a great stay. We had nothing of importance to do and that was the best part. We stayed at the hotel the entire time, welcomed with an afternoon tea and with the promise of a 3 course meal in the evening. Oh and did I mention they'd put a bottle of bubbles in our room! Perfection.

It was an evening of simple pleasures; I ran a big bubble bath and it was heaven. We don't have a bath at ours and I've been really craving one recently. I mean I did the typical thing of running a bath, being too hot and staying in it less than 30 minutes. Still, it made me want one in our house in the future.

The following day we got our trusty National Trust cards out and headed to Lanhydrock house. I can sense that this place may just be one of my favourite places to visit. Not only were the grounds beautiful, the house itself was fascinating. Most NT properties are given to the NT when there is no money left which is way some places are very bare or full of replicas. At Lanhydrock it was giving by the family with everything in it. There was everything you could even think of and more. The library had books in it that were over 500 years old! If you are ever visiting Cornwall I would make this a place to visit.
