3 Ways to Treat Yourself When You're Feeling Blue

I'm a winter baby through and through. I love the dark evenings, bundling up in all the layers, the comfort food, the evenings spent under mountains of blankets. But I do understand why so many people don't. For me, the times when I can find it difficult, is the post Christmas come down, the dark mornings when you rather just stay in bed.

For the most part I can deal with winter but I understand the blues it can give people. God does it even have to be a cold, wet January day for people to feel blue? In short, no! Sometimes the world just doesn't seem on your side, or you're patience just wasn't built for the day. Whatever it is and with all the goodwill and greatest intentions you just can't help but feel blue.

And so whenever these moments happen I always find these 3 things usually help:

Self love// For me this is usually locking myself away in the bathroom for some me time. A hair mask, a face mask and using all my favourite products. It's amazing what freshly washed hair and a hot shower can do to your mind.

Music// I go for this approach; feed the mood with certain music and then change it to something uplifting. Even if it's only one song, put it on, it'll put a smile on your face even if it's just for those 3 minutes.

Your bed// Sometimes when a bad day dawns there's no better way than to end the day early and head to bed. Bonus points if its a fresh bedding and clean pj day, but still the comfort of your bed is a favourite of mine after a long, tough day. To curl up early, sometimes to sleep, maybe to watch a film, or to escape in a book, it's just so comforting to be in bed.

So there it is my favourite mood busters, sometimes just one of them is enough to lift spirits, sometimes it takes all 3. Tell me, what are your favourite ways to tackle the blues?
